How to assign a newly created issue on post function "Create A Linked Issue (JSU)" to a specific user

This article applies to JSU for Jira Server/Data Center.

Currently, with the Create A Linked Issue (JSU) post function, the new issue can be assigned to one of the users listed below:

This article explains how to assign a newly created issue in the Create A Linked Issue (JSU) to a named user, rather than to one of the users from the above options.

Use case :

Instructions

  1. Log in as a Jira Admin and go to the workflow that is associated with your project and issue type.

  2. In the workflow, click Edit to switch to Edit mode.

  3. Select the desired transition, select the Post Functions tab and then click Add post function.

  4. Select the Create A Linked Issue (JSU) post function click Add.

  5. Set the required parameters: e.g. target project, issuetype, issue link, attachments.

  6. To assign the new issue to a specific user, under Sub-Functions, select Add Configuration.

  7. Click Add for the Set option (Set a particular value of the selected field on the new issue).

  8. Enter the user name and select the Assignee field, and Overwrite:

    Note: Ensure that the user who is performing the action (transition) has Assign Issues permission on the target project.

  9. Click Add.

  10. Publish your workflow.
