Create a subtask with the JSU Linked Issue post function that has a different Summary for parent and sub-task

This article explains how to create a sub-task with JSU’s Linked Issue post function that has a different Summary for parent and sub-task issues.

The following scenario represents a different Summary for parent and sub-task issue types. On performing the transition to target status, the transition screen appears with the Sub-Task Summary field on it. Upon the successful transition, the subtask is created.

Instructions

  1. Create a custom field, Sub-Task Summary of type Text Field (single line).

  2. Associate this custom field to the respective transition screen and make sure the custom field is added nowhere else. This means the field will be hidden on the parent issue.

  3. Now, navigate to Project settings > Workflow > Edit > Select the respective transition to add the post function > Post Functions > Add post function > Create a Linked Issue(JSU).

  4. Configure the post function on the respective transition as shown below and Publish the Workflow.

  5. Verify the results by creating a sample ticket as shown below:

It is recommended that you test this scenario in a non-production environment before implementing it in a production environment.
