JSU in Next-gen projects

JSU automates your day to day tasks on workflow level. With its new feature Calculated field, the user can also calculate simple & complex formulas automatically on the Global and project level. JSU features include:

  1. Conditions

  2. Validators

  3. Post-functions

  4. Preconditions for post-functions

  5. Global Calculated Fields

Conditions: *

There is currently only one Condition available in JSU for Jira Cloud which can only be used in the Classic project as it is configured on the project's workflow level and there is no Workflow yet in Next-gen projects. That is the Users in User Condition (JSU)

Validators: *

There is no validator available in JSU for Jira Cloud yet.

Post-functions:

Post-functions are configured on the workflow level. There is currently no workflow in Next-gen project, therefore it is not possible to configure the post-function automation in Next-gen projects directly. However, from the Classic project workflow, we can still do some automation on Next-gen-project-related issues indirectly.

Functionality
Available JSU post-functions are:

  1. Create a Linked Issue (JSU): The Create Linked Issue post-function can be used in Next-gen Projects by configuring it in the Classic Project workflow. For Documentation look here.

  2. Clear Field Value (JSU): The functionality and configuration of the Clear Field Value post-function in Classic Jira can be found here. For Next-gen projects, it is not possible to configure the post-function directly as there is no workflow. However, using JQL in a related issue option, the user can configure this post-function.

  3. Linked Transition (JSU): The functionality and configuration of the Linked Transition in Classic Jira can be found here. For Next-gen projects, it is not possible to configure the post-function directly as there is no workflow. However, using the "related issue" option, the user can configure this post-function to perform the linked transition on next-gen issues.

  4. Update any Issue Field (JSU): The functionality and configuration of the Update any Issue Field Transition in Classic Jira can be found here. For Next-gen projects, it is not possible to configure the post-function directly as there is no workflow. However, using JQL in a related issue option, the user can configure this post-function.

  5. Follow-up Transition (JSU): The functionality and configuration of the Follow-up Transition in Classic JIRA can be found here. It is not possible to use a Follow-up transition in Next-gen projects as there is no related issue. It is always performed on the current issue in transition based on conditions.

  6. Copy or Move Attachments (JSU): Copy or Move Attachments can be used in Next-gen projects by configuring it in a Classic project workflow and related JQL issues. For documentation see here.

  7. Calculated Field (JSU): The functionality and configuration of the Calculated Field in Classic Jira can be found here. For Next-gen projects, it is not possible to configure the post-function directly as there is no workflow. However, using JQL in a related issue option, the user can configure this post-function.

Preconditions for post-functions are integrated into post-functions in JSU for Jira Cloud. So whenever a post-function can be used, preconditions can also be configured.

Global Calculated Fields:

Global Calculated Fields is the latest powerful feature in JSU for Jira Cloud which is used to calculate field values based on configured formulas. Global Calculated Fields functionality can be configured on Global level Classic projects only. Currently, JSU does not support Next-gen project because of limitations.

Functionality:
Formula is the common mathematical equations that are used to calculate the field’s value. If you add another existing field to your formula, the value of that field on the same issue will be used to calculate the formula. If the value of that field is changed, the calculated field will be updated automatically according to the new result of the formula.

* The JSU conditions and validators that are available on Jira Server and Data Center are currently maintained by Atlassian on Jira Cloud.
